Democrat Mayor: Residents Must 'Sacrifice' for Denver 'to Be a Welcoming City' for Illegals

Blogger Comment: This is what Democrat Mayors are doing where they are diverting a city region's finances and transferring these vast sums of cash to illegal migrants, thus reducing the financial assistance available to the US area's indigenous US people who were born from birth in the area...where this cannot be right morally due to the suffering that this will cause to local people through reduced social financial support and where any additional support for for illegals should be coming out of the Biden Administration, as the border problem is Biden's fault and where Biden has let into the USA now heading towards 8 million illegals in just a mere three and half years since Biden took office...

Denver’s Democrat mayor has declared that his residents must now accept a “shared sacrifice” in order for the Colorado city to become “welcoming” for illegal aliens.

The comments from Mayor Mike Johnston come as he seeks to divert Denver’s resources to fund the influx of illegal border crossers.

After burning through Denver taxpayers’ money, Johnston is now demanding federal tax dollars to fund his great replacement agenda.

“We want to be a welcoming city,” Johnston declared during a CNBC interview that aired this week.

However, funding the open borders agenda “requires shared sacrifice” from the public, the mayor asserted.

“It requires compromise,” he added.

“So, we are both making cuts to city budgets to meet this financial need, and we are making cuts to the amount of services we can provide to the migrants that arrive and to the number of folks that we can serve,” he told CNBC.

Johnston was asked to respond to critics who argue Denver has been too generous to illegal aliens.

The mayor responded by saying his initiatives to cut city budget services for them is “a balance.”

“We think it’s a balance,” he said.

“We want to be a welcoming city where you don’t have a woman with a 2-year-old and a 3-year-old sleeping outside in a tent in ten-degree weather in a snowstorm.

“That’s one of our values.

“And we also want to be able to provide high-quality public services to all the taxpayers.

“That’s also one of our values.

“And in this context, without any federal support, to do both of those things requires shared sacrifice, it requires compromise.”

“So, we are both making cuts to city budgets to meet this financial need, and we are making cuts to the amount of services we can provide to the migrants that arrive and to the number of folks that we can serve,” he added.

Earlier this week, Johnston announced he’s diverting $90 million of Denver’s budget to help illegal aliens.

This effort includes defunding essential services like Denver’s police and fire departments by $45 million.

In February, Johnston said that the city had reached a “breaking point” with illegals as overcrowded migrant shelters began to evict them.

In response, the city last month began asking residents to house illegal alien “newcomers” in their homes.

One Democrat city official was even caught on camera begging illegal aliens to consider leaving the jurisdiction for other “sanctuary cities” that have more resources.
