Biden, Harris, Clintons Remain Seated, Refuse to Clap as Trump Gets Standing Ovation for Surviving Assassination Attempt

During his historic inauguration speech, President Donald Trump recalled how he survived multiple assassination attempts during his battle to return to the White House for a second term.

Trump told the crowd that he was saved “by God to Make America Great Again.”

The emotional statement from the president provoked a standing ovation from the audience and the high-profile figures seated on the stage.

However, several individuals seated on Trump’s Left were apparently not impressed with the statement.

Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Bill and Hillary Clinton all remained seated, refused to clap, and appeared stine-faced as the room erupted in a standing ovation.

In a post on X, Global News investigative journalist Ashleigh Stewart reported:

“Biden and Harris staying seated during a standing ovation after President Trump says he was saved from an assassination attempt ‘by God to make America great again.'”

During his remarks moments after taking the oath of office, Trump said:

“Over the past eight years, I have been tested and challenged more than any president in our 250-year history, and I have learned a lot along the way.

“The journey to reclaim our Republic has not been an easy one, that I can tell you.”

“Those who wish to stop our cause have tried to take my freedom and indeed to take my life,” the president said.

“Just a few months ago in a beautiful Pennsylvania field, an assassin’s bullet ripped through my ear.”

“But I felt then and believe even more so now that my life was saved for a reason. I was saved by God to make America great again,” Trump said.

“That is why each day under our administration of American patriots, we will be working to meet every crisis with dignity power, and strength.

“We will move with purpose and speed to bring back hope, prosperity, safety, and peace for citizens of every race, religion, color, and creed.”

Trump’s speech focused on the Biden-Harris administration’s controversial actions, including on issues like immigration, in stark terms.

However, Biden and Harris were not directly named.

The 45th and 47th president also looked ahead to what he’s calling the coming “golden age” of America.

During the follow-up speech to his supporters in the U.S. Capitol’s Emancipation Hall on Monday, Trump revealed that he chose not to directly attack Democrats during his inaugural address for the sake of unity.
