A top executive at BlackRock, the world’s largest investment company, has warned global elites at the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) summit that President Donald Trump poses a “fundamental” threat to Europe if he wins re-election this year.
BlackRock vice chairman Philipp Hildebrand issued the warning Tuesday during the WEF’s annual gathering in Davos, Switzerland.
The Daily Telegraph reports Hildebrand issued his words of caution to globalists from the sidelines of the WEF summit.
However, the Swiss banker wasn’t alone in his fearmongering about Trump’s likely return to the White House.
Hildebrand was adding his voice to the swelling chorus from Europe that fears a Trump return to the world stage.
The veteran Swiss banker said the re-election of the former U.S. president “would challenge Europe fundamentally” given Trump’s determination to embrace America First in matters from trade to diplomacy, NATO funding, and climate policy.
Hildebrand, a member of the firm’s Global Executive Committee, was responding to recent comments by Christine Lagarde, the head of the European Central Bank (ECB).
Last week, Lagarde declared that Trump poses a “clear threat” to Europe because his divergent views set him apart from the European mainstream.
Lagarde warned history allegedly shows Trump’s “manner in which he carried out the first four years of his mandate… is clearly a threat.”
For his part, Hildebrand urged Europe to seize the opportunity to transform itself into a technological superpower that was less dependent on America.
He added Europe’s capabilities on defense were “just not there” and required a rethink.
“I see it as an opportunity for the construction of Europe,” Hildebrand said.
“Clearly, if [Trump’s election] were to lead to a rupture, which I think is what President Lagarde has in mind as a risk, then that would challenge Europe fundamentally.”
Hildebrand helps to oversee more than $9 trillion of assets at American investment giant BlackRock, which is the largest money manager in the world.
He spoke within hours of Trump’s historic victory in the Iowa Republican presidential caucuses.
Meanwhile, other globalist power elites have been raising the alarm about Trump’s soaring 2024 campaign.
As Slay News reported, WEF senior advisor Yuval Noah Harari has warned that President Trump will deal a “death blow” to the globalists’ agenda if he’s re-elected this year.
Harari was asked during a new interview if he’s “concerned that Trump might be elected again.”
“I think it’s very likely,” Harari responded.
“And if it happens, it is likely to be the kind of – like – the death blow to what remains of the global order.
“And, he says it openly.
“Now, it should be clear that many of these politicians, they present a false binary vision of the world.
“As if you have to choose between patriotism and globalism – between being loyal to your nation and being loyal to some kind of – I don’t know – global government or whatever.”
