Doctors are sounding the alarm about the “mysterious epidemic” of rapidly developing cancers that are surging in healthy young people.
According to a new report, doctors say they are unsure of what could be causing such large numbers of deadly cancer cases in younger people.
The doctors warn that the types are cancers they are seeing are normally seen in older or more unhealthy people.
The warning has come in response to the news that Britain’s 42-year-old Princess of Wales has been diagnosed with cancer.
While Princess Kate has not revealed what type of cancer she has, it was discovered during “abdominal surgery” and she is undergoing chemotherapy.
“However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present,” the young royal explained in a video statement last week.
“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” she stated.
“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”
Doctors say they have seen a huge spike in people under 45, who are considered “fit and outwardly healthy,” also being diagnosed with cancer.
However, specialist clinicians say they are baffled as to what is causing the new trend of fast-developing cancers, which are primarily centered on the abdominal area.
Professor Andrew Beggs, a consultant colorectal surgeon and a senior clinical fellow at the University of Birmingham, told the UK’s Telegraph that he has seen cancer cases skyrocket in young people.
Beggs revealed that the cancers are developing so quickly that the patients are not even aware anything is wrong until it is detected.
“When I started as a cancer surgeon 20 years ago, you rarely saw any younger patients, but now I see them regularly,” Beggs said.
“When they turn up they are shocked, because often they haven’t had any symptoms and because of their age they are not thinking about cancer,” he added.
Beggs’s sentiments were echoed by Dr. Shivan Sivakumar.
Sivakumar is an associate professor in oncology at the University of Birmingham.
“There is an epidemic currently of young people getting cancer (under 50s),” he said.
“It is unknown the cause of this, but we are seeing more patients getting abdominal cancers.”
What could the cause possibly be?
Scientists suggest it could be genetic or caused by “possible changes to the microbiome” and gut bacteria, but they remain unsure.
However, major studies have recently been linking soaring cancer cases to Covid mRNA injections.
