A new poll has left corporate media talking heads stunned after it showed overwhelming support for mass deportations of illegal aliens.
According to a new CBS News/YouGov poll, 62 percent of all registered U.S. voters would support plans for the federal government to deport all illegals.
The survey found that even one-third of Democrats would back such a policy.
The poll, published on Sunday, asked registered voters if they would support a new national program to deport all illegal immigrants.
The question posed was similar to a plan that has been proposed by President Donald Trump.
Trump has promised to carry out the “largest deportation” operation in American history if he is re-elected in November.
A majority of those surveyed also support giving local law enforcement the power to identify illegal immigrants living in the U.S.
The poll surveyed 1,615 registered voters across the U.S. between June 5 and 7.
Pollsters “oversampled” people in the seven battleground states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Respondents were a mix of Republicans, Democrats, and independents.
In an interview with Time Magazine earlier this year, Trump said that his massive deportation plans would involve the National Guard.
“These aren’t civilians,” Trump said of the hoards of military-aged male illegal aliens crossing the U.S. southern border in record numbers under Democrat President Joe Biden.
“These are people that aren’t legally in our country.
“This is an invasion of our country.”
“You have to do what you have to do to stop crime and to stop what’s taking place at the border,” he added.
In 2021 — Biden’s first year in office — there were an estimated 10.5 million illegal immigrants living in the U.S.
Since that time, however, millions more illegal immigrants have flooded across the border.
Customs and Border Protection has reported around eight million southwest land border encounters with illegal aliens over the past three and a half years.
That number doesn’t count “gotaways” who have crossed into the U.S. without detection.
According to Border Patrol, there have been an estimated 1.7 million “gotaways” under the Biden administration.
The CBS News poll also found wide support for Biden’s recently signed executive order on the border that Trump and Republicans have slammed as “weak.”
The president’s executive order will shut down temporary asylum requests if the average of daily border encounters hits 2,500 among official ports of entry.
Among those surveyed by CBS News, 70% said they approve of Biden’s latest action on the border, while 30% disapprove.
Trump, however, was the most trusted by those surveyed to decrease illegal border crossings.
Seventy percent of respondents said Trump’s policies would decrease crossings.
Only 20% said Biden’s policies would do the same.
Forty-nine percent of those surveyed said Biden’s policies would increase illegal border crossings.
Trump continues to lead Biden in the 2024 presidential race, according to the poll.
The 45th president is standing at 50% nationally.
Biden, meanwhile, came in at 49%.
On Sunday’s Face the Nation on CBS, host Margaret Brennan was stunned at how a strong majority of Americans back mass deportations, particularly the support from Democrats.
Brennan thinks deporting illagls is wildly impractical.
However, doesn’t seem to think it’s wildly impractical to allow all of these people untrammeled entry into America.
CBS News polling guy Anthony Salvanto explained:
“We tested that in a general way in principle.
“Would you support a new government program that would deport all people living in the U.S. illegally?
“And that finds majority favor. That finds six in 10.
“It’s strongest among folks who are MAGA.
“It’s strongest among Trump supporters, but also from some Democrats as well.”
“So what exactly do people think they’re supporting?” a shocked Brennan asked.
“It doesn’t seem practical, in some sense, to round up children,” she added.
