A young mother-of-two has tragically died suddenly after suffering a fatal cardiac arrest in her sleep.
Lucy Wilk, from North Lanarkshire in Scotland, was 38 years old when she died.
She was found dead after falling asleep and not waking up.
The young mom died in her sleep after putting her nine-month-old son to bed.
Wilk was described as “healthy,” with her friends and family saying her death was “such as shock” because she “was never ill.”
During the night of July 28, the “healthy” 38-year-old suffered a massive cardiac arrest.
Paramedics were called but Lucy couldn’t be saved and she was pronounced dead.
The “loving” parent, who had recently bought her “dream home,” leaves behind her long-term partner Michal Harabin, baby Theo, and their eldest son Oskar, 12.
She was described as a “very special partner and mum” and “the boys were her world.”
Michal, 43, told GlasgowLive how he and Lucy had been watching Netflix before going to bed early on the night before his life turned upside down.
“We had planned to wake up early and go somewhere for a nice breakfast,” he said.
“I woke up at 7 am and heard Theo crying.
“There was no reaction [from Lucy] so I ran upstairs and she was unconscious [in her bedroom].
“I tried to wake her up but she wouldn’t react.
“I put her on the floor and started doing CPR while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.
“Paramedics spent one hour trying to resuscitate her but she died from a cardiac arrest.
“It’s such a shock for all of us.”
Lucy’s death came just a week after she had returned to Scotland from visiting her family in Poland with Theo.
According to her partner of 15 years, she never smoked or drank alcohol, and did not have any known medical issues.
Paying tribute to Lucy, Michal added:
“I will miss every time we spent together, as well as her smile and laugh.
“She was a very special partner and mum, the boys were her world.
“We traveled a lot, almost twice every year, and she liked that.
“We liked to explore the culture and eat different foods.
“Her loss has had a huge impact on us as a family.”
Friend Malgorzata Herner has set up a GoFundMe page to help the family “navigate this heartbreaking loss”.
Money raised will help pay for Lucy’s funeral, which is on August 17.
The funds will also assist Michal with day-to-day expenses while he takes time off work to care for their children.
